What E15 usually indicates
E15 usually means Bosch leak protection has detected water where it should not be, often in the base area. The dishwasher may continue to run a drain pump or refuse normal cycles while protection is active.
A quick reset may clear a display temporarily, but it does not identify why water reached the detection area.
Visible checks before service
Cancel the cycle and shut off the water supply if leaking is active and the valve is reachable safely. Look around the lower door edge, under the sink, and near the dishwasher base for visible water.
Over-sudsing, a loose hose connection, door seal debris, or a blocked drain path can create symptoms that look like a leak. Do not open internal panels just to dry the base.
- Stop active water movement first.
- Check for water at the toe-kick and under-sink connections.
- Confirm only dishwasher detergent was used.
- Inspect the drain path for backup.
- Do not keep restarting if E15 returns.
When to call Bosch support
If E15 returns after the visible area is dry and no simple cause is found, model-specific leak tracing is needed. That work can involve moving the unit or opening protected areas.
Document the exact model number, whether water appeared outside the cabinet, and whether the pump kept running after cancellation.
Model numbers affected
Commonly searched model families include built-in dishwashers, front-control dishwashers, top-control dishwashers, and compact dishwashers.
This is not a confirmed model-number list. Match the exact code to the full model number on the appliance tag before ordering parts, opening panels, or booking service.
